Why might horse owners consider halotherapy?
Horses are exposed to the same environmental air we breathe, which can include dust, pollen, and other airborne particles. Barn and stable environments may also contain naturally occurring irritants such as dust from bedding or hay.
Because horses have large lung capacity and move significant volumes of air during normal activity and exercise, some owners choose to incorporate halotherapy sessions as part of their horse’s overall wellness routine.
Halotherapy sessions provide a calm, enclosed environment where horses can relax while exposed to dry, mineral-rich air. Many owners include sessions in their horse management program to support overall comfort and relaxation, particularly during periods of training, travel, or seasonal changes.

Why Halotherapy for Horses and Animals?
Horses and companion animals have respiratory systems that function in many ways similarly to humans. Like us, they are exposed to everyday environmental factors such as dust, pollen, and other naturally occurring airborne particles in barns, homes, and outdoor settings.
Because horses have a large lung capacity and move significant volumes of air during rest and exercise, some owners choose to incorporate halotherapy sessions as part of their animal’s overall wellness routine.
Halotherapy provides a calm, enclosed environment where animals can relax while exposed to dry, mineral-rich air. Many owners include sessions as a supportive addition to their regular animal care practices, particularly during periods of environmental change, training, or travel.
What is Halotherapy or Dry Salt Therapy?
Dry salt therapy, also known as halotherapy, involves the use of 99.99% pure sodium chloride (salt) that is mechanically ground into very fine particles. These dry salt particles are dispersed into the air within an enclosed space during a session.
Participants relax in the environment while breathing in the mineral-rich air and allowing the salt particles to settle naturally on the skin. Sessions are designed to provide a calm and comfortable wellness experience.
Halotherapy is offered as a non-invasive wellness service and is intended to complement a healthy lifestyle. It is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment.
How Halotherapy Works
During a session inside our mobile unit—or when using a portable system—a halogenerator disperses fine, dry salt particles into the enclosed space.
As your animal relaxes in the environment, they are naturally exposed to the mineral-rich air created during the session. The experience is designed to be calm, quiet, and low stress.
Some of the fine salt particles remain suspended in the air during the session, while others settle gently onto the coat and skin. Sessions are intended to support overall comfort and relaxation as part of a regular wellness routine.
How Long Does It Take For Halotherapy to work?
Typically, animals may experience short term results after 1-3 sessions. In order to reach deep into the alveoli in the lungs it's best to do 3 sessions close together for best results. However; it is best to use on a consistent basis. Each case is different depending on the conditions and symptoms the animal is experiencing. Salt Therapy is not a cure, but a natural way to manage symptoms.
What Are The Benefits of Halotherapy
Studies have found that halotherapy can have benefits for respiratory conditions, skin problems, and allergies. Salt is a natural and safe ingredient.
Studies have proved it is:
-
Mucoactive, clearing up mucus from your horses airways.
-
Antibacterial, helping prevent infections.
-
Anti-inflammatory.
-
Immunity-boosting.
-
Anti-allergic.
Does Salt Therapy Reduce Inflammation
Halotherapy is offered as a natural, non-invasive wellness service that provides exposure to dry, mineral-rich air in a calm and controlled environment.
During a session, fine salt particles are dispersed into the air, where they can be inhaled or settle gently onto the coat and skin. Many horse owners incorporate halotherapy into their overall management routine as a way to promote relaxation and general comfort.
How Do You Do Halotherapy
Halotherapy is a natural remedy that involves inhaling pharmaceutical-grade dry salt in a comfortable, controlled environment. As your horse relaxes in our trailer, or pet in our mobile tent, a special medical device called a halogenerator will disperse microscopic salt particles into the trailer or tent.
How often should I do Halotherapy for my horse or pet
Those with chronic issues will benefit greatly by having treatments at least 2-3 times a week initially before reducing frequency as symptoms improve. Those who want to incorporate salt therapy into their regular wellness routine would benefit from a weekly session. Halotherapy is safe to use on a daily basis, if required.
What Kind Of Salt Is Used For Halotherapy
Only 99.9% pure grade sodium chloride (salt) is to be used with halogenerators which are the machines that crush and grind the salt into microscopic particles and dispersed into the salt trailer or tent. All the medical studies and research for halotherapy involve only 99.99% Pure Grade Sodium Chloride.
